Max Skill 2 first to shorten the cooldown of your key engage tool, then level Skill 3 for the shield.
Rakan Strengths
✓Top-tier mobility and engage among supports
✓Hard-to-dodge wide-area CC combining Ult and Skill 2
Rakan Weaknesses
×Squishy; dies quickly if he cannot dash back to an ally
×Longish cooldowns leave a big window after a miss
Rakan Early Game
The Skill 2 knock-up is a strong engage, but missing it is costly. Step forward only while your passive shield is up. Repeat a hit-and-run pattern, healing with Skill 1 as you back off safely.
Rakan Mid Game
Fast rotations from your mobility are your biggest asset. Appear from out of vision, knock enemies up with Skill 2, and dash straight back to an ally with Skill 3. Repeating this hard-to-answer catch lets you set the pace of the game.
Rakan Late Game
Rakan's job is to punish a split-second mistake by charming and knocking up the whole enemy group. The Flash into Ult into Skill 2 combo is especially hard to avoid and often decides the fight.
Rakan Teamfights
Either dive alongside your frontline or run through the enemy team with Ult, charming everyone you touch. Once your CC is spent, do not chase. Dash back to your backline with Skill 3 and switch to peeling.
⚠️ Common Mistakes
Engaging without an escape route
Rakan is a squishy support. Avoid engaging deep into the enemy team when no ally can follow up. If you knock someone up with Skill 2 and have no ally to dash back to with Skill 3, you get burst down instantly. Keep your spacing to your team in mind at all times. From Lv5, chain Ult into Skill 2 to lock down several enemies, then dash back out right away.

The Quickness
⏳ 80s
Gains 60% Movement Speed for 4s. Touching enemies deals 100 magic damage (100 + 50%AP) and charms them for 1s. This may only occur once per unit. The first champion charmed grants Rakan 75% decaying Movement Speed.
Grand Entrance is Rakan's engage and his crowd control in one button, and it also chunked targets on its own despite coming from a support. With both the damage and the AP ratio lowered, diving in for the damage alone is no longer worth the risk — it has to be paired with a teammate's follow-up. The crowd control itself is untouched, so Rakan keeps his value as a fight starter.
