Meta analysis (patch 7.2e, AI-written forecast)

This patch pairs cut ratios with thicker shields. Vi loses 40 points of bonus AD scaling and Swain's AP scaling is more than halved on both damage and healing — both hurt more the further the game goes, and barely register early. Protection moves the other way. Janna's Eye of the Storm gains 60 shield at rank 4, and Nautilus gains 65 at 3,000 health. Malphite is touched in three places at once — armor growth, slow strength and Thunderclap — leaving him 9.8 armor tougher by level 15. On the item side both defensive actives got slower: Stasis by 30 seconds, Annul by 15. Eclipse went the other way, 100 gold cheaper with a bigger shield, while Unending Despair trades five of each resistance for 100 health and 10 ability haste.

Patch 7.2e
Nerf

Vault Breaker

  • Minimum Damage80% bonus AD → 60%
  • Maximum Damage160% bonus AD → 120%

Cease and Desist

  • Cooldown60/55/50s → 80/70/60s

Our take

A fully charged Vault Breaker loses 40 points of ratio. At 200 bonus AD that is 80 damage gone, and the gap widens the more Vi builds — this bites late rather than early.

Cease and Desist is 20 seconds longer at rank 1. Miss once and the wait is long, so the opening has to be worth it.

Demonic Ascension

  • Damage per second10/25/40 + 15% AP → 15/25/35 + 6% AP
  • Healing per second20/30/40 + 20% AP → 15/30/45 + 10% AP
  • What got cut is the AP scaling: damage from 15% to 6%, healing from 20% to 10%. At 600 AP that removes 54 damage and 60 healing every second.
  • The base values move both ways. Damage goes 10→15 at rank 1 and 40→35 at rank 3; healing goes 20→15 at rank 1 and 40→45 at rank 3. The more Swain builds, the more this hurts.

Eye of the Storm

  • Shield Value65/90/115/140 + 45% AP → 80/120/160/200 + 50% AP

Our take

Every rank gains base value, 60 of it at rank 4, and the ratio climbs 5 points. At 300 AP the shield goes from 275 to 350.

For a support whose whole job is protection, that is a lot. It decides whether a focused teammate survives one more spell in a fight.

Nautilus

Titan's Wrath

  • Shield Value65/75/85/95 + 9/10/11/12% max health → 70/80/90/100 + 11/12/13/14% max health

Our take

Base value rises 5 at every rank and the max-health ratio gains 2 points. At 3,000 health the rank 4 shield goes from 455 to 520.

It scales with health, so the more Nautilus builds like a tank the bigger the gap.

Base Stats

Seismic Shard

  • Slow15/20/25/30% → 20/25/30/35%

Thunderclap

  • Base damage on consecutive attacks10/20/30/40 → 20/30/40/50

Our take

Three places at once. Armor growth gains 0.7, which is 9.8 more armor by level 15.

Seismic Shard's slow gains 5 points at every rank, making it easier to catch a fleeing target and to press a lane trade. Thunderclap gains 10 base damage, so rank 1 now hits as hard as rank 2 used to.

Seeker's Armguard

Patch 7.2e
Nerf

Base Stats

  • Stasis cooldown120s → 150s

Our take

Thirty seconds longer, which means fewer escapes over a game. Spend it at the wrong moment and it will not be back when it matters.

Verdant Barrier

Patch 7.2e
Nerf

Base Stats

  • Annul cooldown50s → 65s

Our take

Fifteen seconds longer. Its whole value is eating one spell, so a slower cycle makes laning less comfortable. Baiting a cast before stepping up is now something to ration.

Eclipse

Buff

Base Stats

  • Price3000 gold → 2900 gold

Ever Rising Moon

  • Shield Value (melee)140 + 35% bonus AD → 150 + 40% bonus AD

Our take

A hundred gold cheaper and a thicker shield. At 100 bonus AD the shield goes from 175 to 190.

Note that Riot published the melee figure only. No ranged value was given, so our item page updates the melee number and leaves the ranged one as it read before 7.2e.

Adjust

Base Stats

  • Max Health200 → 300
  • Armor45 → 40
  • Magic Resistance45 → 40
  • Ability Haste: +10 added

Our take

A hundred more health, five less of each resistance, and 10 ability haste. The build path changed too.

Anguish deals 3% of max health, so more health means both more damage and more healing from the passive. Trading five of each resistance for health lines up with what the item already does.

Blood Price

  • Pyke cannot select Blood Price. One Anvil Specialist bug was also fixed.
  • One augment added. Riot did not say why Pyke alone is excluded.

What the Patch Archive Covers

675 recorded changes across 29 versions, from 6.3 through to the current 7.3a. It is built for tracking how often a single champion has been buffed or nerfed.

Some patches move far more than others

The largest is 7.2 with 175 entries — the patch that rebuilt boots and introduced tier 3. Others run to a handful of lines, so the version numbers alone say nothing about how much the meta shifted.

Of the 675 entries, 231 are champion changes. The rest cover items and runes, ARAM and Arena tuning, ranked seasons and system-level work.

What the meta prediction is worth

Selecting a version also brings up a meta prediction for that patch, 29 versions in all. It is an AI-written read rather than measured data; the tier list is where you check what the win rates actually did.

Counts reflect the patch data bundled with this site. A new patch takes a short while to appear.
